Commissions

If you are interested in commissioning an artwork please contact me to discuss your project. For those unique projects that demand as-yet unimagined creative solutions, you can work directly with me for a full realisation of your particular personal vision. Please see below for selected commissions.

We have bought sculptures from Simon before, and we were happy to commission him to work on three ideas we had for our Garden Project..

We are really happy he worked with us on our brief and what, in the end we achieved together.

Commission - Air Arts

Kaleidoscopic Anatomy for the UHDB Medical Museum.

Project Brief - The creation of two small scale anatomical models inspired by the drawings of E J Lance. One sculpture inspired by the heart, the other by the cochlea in the inner ear. The works should have an element of surrealism, echoing the surreal nature of the drawings but should also be able to be identified as anatomical.

“ The finished work was way beyond my hopes, love it “ EJ Lance

Buxton Museum - Collection of the Artists

Arts Council funded project to create a bronze sculpture responding to the museums collections. “Transition” is a response to objects in the museums Stone Age / Bronze Age period.

"Buxton Museum and Art Gallery was pleased to commission Simon to make a new piece of art for their Wonders of the Peak Gallery in 2016.  This was an Arts Council England commission in which six artists were asked to respond to the amazing collections at the museum. We were drawn to Simon's fascination in layers and differing planes in the samples he bought to an initial discussion. We gave Simon the opportunity to develop a work to be cast in bronze; he chose to explore the attributes of the stone and metal artefacts found on the White Peak. His tactile maquettes of the blade edges were replicated in clay as handling objects. Simon thrived in the supportive and collaborative process. His elegant casting speaks strongly of the strength of the metal, the sharpness of the blades and the timelessness of the tool shapes created by our ancestors."

Private Commission

Memorial painting celebrating the life of Leigh Twist.

““Simon created, from his charcoal sketches, a portrait of our son, and his friends, Leigh who we sadly lost in March 2011. We now have not only a lasting reminder of Leigh but a superb work of art that will be with us always. I would recommend both Simons portraiture and his abstract work (paintings and sculpture) to anyone requiring a piece of unique artwork to enhance any setting” ”
